What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a virtually undetectable orthodontic treatment for straightening your teeth. Invisalign uses advanced 3D computer imaging to plan your entire treatment from start to finish, creating a series of custom-made clear aligners for your teeth. As you switch to a new set of aligners every two or so weeks, your teeth will gradually move into their correct position.

What are the benefits of Invisalign?

  • Invisalign aligners are clear – most people can’t even tell that you are wearing an orthodontic appliance!
  • Your aligners are removable, making it easy for you to brush and floss, and allowing you to eat and drink what you want.
  • Your aligners are made of thin, comfortable plastic, making them comfortable and eliminating the irritation caused by the metal brackets and wires of traditional braces
  • With Invisalign, you can view the virtual results of your treatment plan before you even begin your treatment, and know exactly what you have to look forward to when your treatment is complete.

Do I need to make any changes to my lifestyle while using the Invisalign system?

No. As your Invisalign aligners are removable, you can easily maintain a good oral hygiene routine. You can also eat and drink whatever you like, and can even remove your aligners occasionally for a special night out. Your day-to-day activities shouldn’t change at all.

How do I take care of my aligners?

We recommend that you clean your aligners regularly. Dirty aligners can cause your teeth to appear yellow, stained, or gray. You can do this by using the Invisalign Cleaning system (which you can order at www.invisalignstore.com) or by brushing them and rinsing them in lukewarm water. Do not use hot water or place your aligners in the dishwasher or microwave, as this will damage the aligners.

We also advise that you avoid chewing on foods while wearing your aligners, as this could cause damage to the appliance.

How often should I wear my aligners?

Your treatment will be most effective if you are wearing your aligners 20-22 hours each day. You should only remove your aligners to eat, brush, and floss.

One of my aligners has cracked. What should I do?

Contact your dentist as soon as possible. A cracked or otherwise damaged aligner will not be able to guide your teeth into the proper position, and will need to be replaced. Do not wait to schedule your appointment, as waiting too long may result in your teeth shifting back into their previous positions.

Will I need to wear a retainer when my Invisalign treatment is complete?

Yes. Retainers prevent teeth from moving back to their original positions. You will need to consult with your dentist about whether or not you need retainers, and what type of retainer will be best for you.

How many patients are being treated with Invisalign?

More than 1 million patients worldwide have been treated with Invisalign, and the number of successful treatments grows daily!
